Bloemfontein - A Northern Cape court has issued an order freezing assets belonging to provincial political leaders and a businessman, it was reported on Monday.
The 147 assets from 32 respondents in the Trifecta fraud investigation consisted of buildings, property, farms and vehicles, Volksblad reported.
They included assets belonging to Northern Cape ANC leader and finance MEC John Block, social services MEC Alvin Botes and Northern Cape ANC treasurer and MP Yolanda Botha.
Others belonged to Trifecta director, businessman Christo Scholtz, the Trifecta group and the //Khara Hais municipality in Upington.
The National Prosecuting Authority applied for the order, which was granted on Friday.
According to the newspaper, the respondents had until March 22 to give reasons why the order should not be made permanent.
Most of the respondents were business trusts. Some were trustees.
