Johannesburg - A 24-hour TV channel dedicated to the murder trial of Oscar Pistorius will pop down for a week, Multichoice said on Friday.

The Carte Blanche channel would be paused from March 28 and would resume on April 7, said spokeswoman Michelle Esau in a statement.

The trial was postponed to April 7 because an assessor in his case in the High Court in Pretoria was ill.

“As is standard practice with a pop-up or temporary channel dedicated to specific content, the channel will pop down or cease broadcast when the trial is postponed or court is in recess.”

She said after resuming, the channel would continue until further notice and would adjust its live broadcast schedule according to the court proceedings.

The channel has brought viewers coverage of the trial’s progress.
