Johannesburg - Police in Sebokeng, south of Johannesburg, arrested two men after the body of a young woman was found in the vehicle in which they were travelling, Johannesburg metro police said on Monday.

“Three of our officers became suspicious when a Ford sedan sped off immediately after noticing a marked police car in Evaton, near Sebokeng, on Sunday night,” said Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.

“They gave chase and cornered the sedan. The body of the young woman was found wrapped in a blanket and placed between the two front seats.”

The officers had just dropped off a colleague in Evaton after completing their shift.

The woman is believed to be in her late teens, Minnaar said.

Police in Sebokeng are investigating a case of murder.

“The two men, aged 23 and 30, have not been charged yet as police are investigating who the deceased is, where she is from and how she died,” said Minnaar.
