Port Elizabeth - Port Elizabeth police arrested a suspect in connection with an armed robbery at the Pick n Pay in Linton Grange on Friday morning.

Police spokesperson Captain Johan Rheeder said a man was arrested at a Shell garage in Western Road in Central, within a few hours of the robbery.

Rheeder said the suspect was allegedly the driver of a Quantum van, adding that the vehicle was also recovered at the garage.

Police are still searching for his three alleged accomplices. It was alleged that four men, two armed with guns, entered the store shortly after opening time on Friday morning.

The suspects took an unmounted safe containing cash and fled in a white Quantum. No shots were fired.
