Polokwane - Police in Polokwane have cracked a possible trio crimes - house and business robberies and hijacking - syndicate, Limpopo police said on Saturday.

"In a persistent effort by the police in this province to fight any form of criminality head-on, in the Westernburg policing area outside Polokwane, the police have made a major breakthrough in Ladanna along the Bleuberg road after they cracked a possible trio crime syndicate," Lt-Col Moatshe Ngoepe said.

Four men, aged between 20 and 45, were arrested after a suspicious Toyota Tazz was spotted and pulled off the road.

The car and its occupants were searched and cellphones and various other suspected stolen property with an estimated value of R350,000 were confiscated, including 40 tablets, 15 Blackberry cellphones, six Sony cellphones,  37 Nokia, 44 Samsung, four IPhones, and a number of Microsoft, Hisense, and Huawei cellphones.

The suspects would appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Monday. Police were looking into the possibility that this syndicate was part of a group terrorising members of the community in the province, especially where cellphones were robbed or stolen, Ngoepe said.
