Pretoria - The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) on Monday confirmed the offices of the director of public prosecutions for Gauteng North in Pretoria were burgled.
"They broke into two offices on the second floor which are diagonally opposite each other. They stole two computers," said Luvuyo Mfaku, NPA spokesperson.
Mfaku would not divulge the names of the prosecutors whose laptops were stolen or the cases they were working on.
The police are still investigating Sunday night’s break-in at the offices of the Gauteng North Director of Public Prosecutions, but it is understood that the laptops of two top prosecutors, who have been working on high-level cases, have been stolen.
According to unconfirmed reports, the offices of two prosecutors, located on the second floor of the building on Church Square, had been burgled.
It is not known at this stage what the motivation behind the break-in is.
According to a source, the thieves broke a glass panel on top of the doors leading to the two offices.
While it is not known exactly what was stolen at this stage, it is clear that the laptops are missing.
It is still unclear at this stage how the thieves managed to get into the building.
