Johannesburg - The South African Police Service (SAPS) on Tuesday confirmed it was looking into the authenticity of numerous videos making the rounds on social media showing a group, including a well-known actress, flaunting stacks of money.

In the one video, a well-known actress, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is seen with a wad of cash on her plate, seemingly preparing to "eat" it.

Her friend, also a well-known actress, records this as a male companion looks on in amusement.

In the second video, a group of men, including the same man captured dining with the actresses, is seen going through stacks of money in a suitcase, with some of it stored in Fidelity security bags.

A third video also surfaced, again showing the same man at a bank, handing over stacks of money to a bank teller.

The videos have since gone viral, sparking massive backlash and raising questions on whether the money had been stolen.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo has since commented on the matter, confirming that police would look into the matter.

"Firstly the authenticity of the videos [will be investigated]... followed by possible investigations at the very least in terms of the Reserve Bank Act," Naidoo confirmed.
