Johannesburg - Part of Beyers Naude Drive has been closed due to violent protests by residents of the Zandspruit informal settlement, Johannesburg metro police said on Tuesday.
Motorists were advised to avoid Beyers Naude Drive, which was closed off between Peter Road and Johan Street, said Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.
Police were monitoring the situation.
The reason for the protest was unclear, Minnaar said.
