Johannesburg - The Reiger Park Taxi Association chairman was shot dead in Reiger Park, east of Johannesburg, on Thursday morning.

The 54-year-old man was driving in Elsberg Road when three men in a white Toyota Camry shot at him, police spokesman Lt-Col Katlego Mogale said.

“His vehicle came to a standstill a few minutes from the shooting scene,” said Mogale.

He was taken to a nearby hospital and declared dead on arrival.

No arrests had been made and police were investigating, Mogale said.

Gauteng SA National Taxi Council secretary general Ralph Jones said the dead man was the Reiger Park Taxi Association chairman. Eyewitness News named him as Andy Khoza.
