SAPS launch manhunt for alleged ATM bombers

Cape Town - Police are searching for suspects after an ATM was blown up at Maphindi's Butchery in Nyanga during the early hours of Thursday morning.

The Nedbank ATM on the corner of Ermms Drive and Third Avenue was bombed at about 3am, according to residents living close to the scene.

When the Cape Times arrived the scene was cleared and only debris of the shattered ATM could be seen.

Police spokesperson Noloyiso Rwexana said the incident occurred occurred at about 03:00, when unidentified suspects bombed an ATM in Nyanga. 

She said cases of attempted theft and malicious damage to property were being investigated.

"No one has been arrested as yet," said Rwexana.
