Secunda - A man was found guilty of 48 out of 57 counts for different crimes, including murder and rape, in the Secunda Regional Court on Tuesday, Mpumalanga police said.
“Sentencing would begin on April 7,” said Colonel Leonard Hlathi.
Other crimes the 33-year-old man was found guilty of included attempted rape, robbery and kidnapping.
He was accused of 28 counts of rape, 21 of kidnapping, six counts of robbery, one of attempted rape, and one of murder.
Hlathi was unable to confirm how many counts he was found guilty of in relation to each crime.
“All the cases, totalling 57, spiralled from 2003 up until 2010,” he said.
The man, who had been operating in and around the Secunda area, was arrested in January 2011.
