Six men have been arrested for allegedly killing a 52-year-old man in a ritual murder, Limpopo police said on Sunday.

The men were arrested on Thursday after the man's burnt body was found on the same day near Mutonga village, near Makhado (Louis Trichardt), with his pubic hair and testicles removed, said Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi.

This was after communities in the area had committed themselves against ritual killing through signing a pledge, he said.

“Police later found a plastic (bag) which is suspected to have had the parts, and the police investigations to get the removed parts are at an advanced state,” said Mulaudzi.

One of those arrested was a well-known sangoma in the area.

The six men, aged between 21 and 54 years of age, were expected to appear in the Makhado Magistrate's Court on Monday. - Sapa
