The stepfather of a Randburg teenager has been accused of using a camera disguised as a keyring to take pictures of her and her friends in the bathroom of their home.
The 34-year-old man appeared briefly in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday when the matter was postponed due to problems with legal aid.
He faces preliminary charges of the sexual grooming of children and using children for pornography.
It is believed the man placed a bunch of keys, with a small camera in the keyring, in the bathroom.
The girl’s mother saw the keys but did not say anything at the time, not expecting there to be a camera.
The man then allegedly approached his 15-year-old stepdaughter and said he wanted to have sex with her.
When she said no, he threatened to distribute the pictures he had taken of her in the bathroom at her school.
The girl asked to see the pictures, after which she told her mother and the police were summoned.
