Patensie, Eastern Cape - A school minibus stolen in Patensie, near Hankey, was recovered on Wednesday, Eastern Cape police said.

Gamtoos Valley Primary School pupils were left without transport after the owner of the minibus discovered it had been stolen, Lt-Col Priscilla Naidu said.

During the night thieves cut a hole into the fence around his property and drove the vehicle away. When the vehicle's tracker was activated at 10am on Wednesday, police found it abandoned in an area known as a “cooling-off” spot for stolen cars in Sayise Street, Naidu said.

The ignition had been tampered with and a sticker bearing the school's name had been removed.

No arrests had been made by Wednesday afternoon. - Sapa
