Port Elizabeth – A 19-year-old man is expected to appear in the Centane Magistrate's Court on Monday for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl, Eastern Cape police said.

Police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha, said the man was arrested on Sunday after the incident was reported to police.

"It is alleged that the suspect went to the homestead of the girl at Teko Kona location, Tutura Village on Saturday at about 8pm," said Manatha.

He said the suspect allegedly dragged the girl from her home to an open field where he raped her.
