Truck driver dies while community loots his undelivered pigs

Butterworth – A truck driver transporting pigs died after his vehicle left the road and crashed along the N2 between Butterworth and Kei Bridge in the Eastern Cape, provincial police said on Wednesday.

The 51-year-old driver travelling from Durban to Komga, who was transporting around 400-600 pigs to be delivered to Komga butcheries, died instantly on Wednesday morning.

Police spokesman Jackson Manatha said: "Community members looted and stole all the pigs."

"The identity of the deceased is still being withheld until his family and close relatives are informed of his death."

Police condemned the looting while the driver lay dead in the vehicle. The Kei Bridge Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
