Cape Town - Police in the Western Cape have arrested two suspects after stopping a truck at a petrol filling station in De Doorns on Monday night.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut said members of the Public Order Policing and Flying Squad had reacted on intelligence and conducted a stop-and-search operation at the filling station in De Doorns.

"During this operation, a Scania truck and trailer was searched which led to the discovery of illegal schedule 7 anabolic steroids with an estimated street value of R 2.4 million," Traut said.

"Two suspects, aged 47 and 57, were arrested and are due to make a court appearance in Worcester once they have been charged. The truck valued at approximately R 1 million was also seized. The circumstances surrounding the seizure are being investigated."
