Willowvale - Two men, aged 20 and 22, were arrested for murder in Willowvale, Eastern Cape police said on Saturday.

They were arrested on Friday after being implicated in the murder of a teen who was killed on Thursday in the Nyumbeni area, said Captain Jackson Manatha.

He said one of the two men was believed to have been in a relationship with the cousin of the deceased youth.

The attackers saw the youth accompanying the girlfriend and thought he was the girl's new boyfriend.

“When the 19-year-old man returned from accompanying his cousin, he met with the two suspects. They (were) armed with sticks and bush knives and attacked him,” said Manatha.

A passerby found the injured teen and rushed him to the Thafalofefe hospital where he later died.

The two men were arrested and charged with murder.

They were expected to appear in the Willowvale Magistrate's Court on Monday. - Sapa
