Alberton - Two men were caught digging up copper cable on the side of a road in Alrode, Alberton, Ekurhuleni metro police said on Wednesday.

“The suspects were caught red-handed along Dekenah Road and in possession of a two-metre freshly dug-up cable, two hacksaws and a shovel. The cable is worth approximately R1500,” Inspector Kobedi Mokheseng said.

He said one of the men was out on bail for a similar offence committed in the Alberton area in February.

The two are expected to appear in the Palmridge Magistrate's Court soon. - Sapa
