Mankweng - A Limpopo man accused of raping his three-year-old niece appeared in the Mankweng Magistrate's Court on Monday.
Constable Moses Molepo said the matter was postponed to February 20 and the man would remain in police custody.
The 20-year-old man was arrested on Sunday after a tip-off by residents, said Molepo.
He had been missing since the girl was raped on Wednesday.
The girl's mother had left the child in the man's care while she went to work.
“The victim revealed the ordeal to the mother and the matter was reported to police for further investigations,” Molepo said.
Doctors at Mankweng Hospital confirmed the toddler had been raped. - Sapa
