Port Elizabeth - Two people were killed and another injured on Friday in what police believe to be vigilante attacks in Soweto On Sea and Veeplaas in Port Elizabeth.

Police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge said that in the first incident, the body of 29-year-old Masixole Gama was found next to the Zwide graveyard at around 7am on Friday morning.

"His friend, the 36-year-old Bonani Lawu, alias Kaizer, escaped with serious injuries and was admitted at Dora Nginza Hospital. He alleged that he and Masixole was walking home to Ezinyoka, when a group of men attacked them with sticks. He escaped but his friend passed away on the scene," said Beetge.

The motive for the attack is unknown.

In the second incident on Friday, the body of 25-year-old Lubabalo Zenzile was found next to a salt pan at Soweto On Sea at around 7.15am.

Beetge said that Zenzile was a local from Veeplaas and was found with lacerations in his groin area.

"At this stage it is suspected to be a possible vigilante murder," he said.

No arrests have been made.

Police are appealing to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact Kwazakhele police.

Last weekend, two people were killed and another seriously injured in what police also believe were vigilante attacks in the Soweto On Sea area.
