Durban - A Verulam woman escaped with her life after being shot in her back outside her home on Monday night.

Police spokesman, Major Thulani Zwane, said the 30-year-old woman was shot by two men at her home in Orchid Drive, Redcliffe. She was taken to hospital.

The motive for the shooting was unknown. Zwane said no arrest had been made. Verulam police are investigating a case of attempted murder.

Private security company Reaction Unit South Africa spokesman, Prem Balram, said the incident happened at 8pm.

“She was shot while standing outside her home chatting to a man and suffered a gunshot wound to her back. The suspects fled in a car,” he said.

Meanwhile, Zwane said two people had been taken in for questioning in connection with the murder of Jacobs businessman, Alan Stacey.

Stacey was found dead in his office on January 27 with a gunshot wound to the chest. Zwane said no arrests had been made.
