Cape Town – The long awaited annual Cape Town International Jazz Festival has finally arrived, and this weekend, the Mother City will be host to some of the most illustrious musicians on earth.

Africa’s Grandest Gathering is taking place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre on Friday and on Saturday night, and if you are one of the lucky people who purchased their tickets early, you’re in for a fantastic time.

On Friday night, you can enjoy music from the likes of Mango Groove, UK songbird Laura Mvula, Camillo Lombard and Oscar-nominee Jonas Gwangwa, among others.

On Saturday, a 14-piece band will strike up for the Cape Town Showcase, starring cabaret artist Sophia Foster, songstress Vicky Sampson and guitarist Sammy Webber, among many others.

Friday day passes were still available by last night at R690 per person, from Computicket.

CTIJF Director Billy Domingo said the festival had undergone a “musical renaissance with different musical genres and performers collaborating to create new sounds for the audience”.

“I couldn’t be happier with this line-up as it’s a reflection of where we have come from, where we are now and where we are going.”
