Cape Town - The father of an eight-year-old girl says his child pees her pants every time she sees a teacher who allegedly abused her at school.
And the mom says the teacher had kicked her daughter and pulled her by the ear.
The girl is now receiving counselling, following the incidents at a Mitchells Plain primary school last week.
According to her father, the little girl was so traumatised she cries constantly. The 50-year-old man says his child is scared to go to school.
“My daughter, in Grade 2, takes a lift home with a teacher at the school every afternoon. She was playing in the park when the Grade R teacher walked to the park, grabbed her by her ear and dragged her towards the school. She also kicked her in her back. My child cried for hours thereafter,” says the angry father.
He went to the school the following day to complain but was told the teacher was not employed by the Western Cape Education Department.
“They said the teacher was appointed by the school governing body (SGB) and they could do nothing about her. I went to the regional office where my daughter has been referred to a school psychologist.”
The worried father says his child is being intimidated and burst out crying last Monday when he took her to school.
“She clung to my leg and begged me not to leave her at the school. I am upset and not satisfied with what has happened. I laid a charge against her with the police and I want the WCED to do something.”
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, confirmed: “A case of assault has been opened for investigation. No one has been arrested at this stage.”
The Daily Voice sent a query to the WCED last Thursday, but they did not reply by Sunday.
