Johannesburg - Sex between DJ Donald Sebolai and Dolly Tshabalala - the girlfriend he is accused of killing - was so bad that he asked police to intervene.
Sebolai approached Jabulani police station last year and informed officers that he wanted to end the relationship with Tshabalala because of the allegedly bad sex.
This emerged on Monday in the high court sitting in Palm Ridge where the former Jozi FM presenter is on trial for the murder of Tshabalala. He also faces theft and defeating the ends of justice charges. He has pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The State’s eighth witness, Warrant Officer Pheepa Mabitsi, testified on Monday that Sebolai had told him the reason he wanted Tshabalala to leave the flat they shared was because her vagina had “stretched” and the sex was not pleasant.
Mabitsi, who knew the couple because he had responded to Tshabalala’s domestic abuse complaints, said he went to the flat to instruct Tshabalala to move out. He said Tshabalala packed her belongings and left in his presence in March last year.
Mabitsi had visited the couple twice last February after Tshabalala had asked the police to reprimand Sebolai.
It is alleged the accused had insulted Tshabalala on the first incident and apologised during police intervention.
During the second incident, Tshabalala had gone to the police station, saying Sebolai had started with his behaviour again - threatening to beat and kill her.
Mabitsi told the court that he advised Tshabalala to file a protection order against the accused, but she didn’t want to.
Earlier, the court heard that Tshabalala, her best friend Nonhlanhla Mkhize and Sebolai had a threesome.
The details emerged when Mkhize was cross-examined by defence advocate Thabang Mathopo. But Mkhize denied the claims, saying there was never a time where the three had been together alone. She told the court that they were always in the company of other people.
Mkhize on Friday testified that Sebolai called her shortly after he allegedly killed Tshabalala, confessing to the murder.
The ninth witness who is being cross-examined by the Mathopo is the arresting officer.
He told the court that he had received a call from a man informing him that he knew Sebolai would be arriving later in the evening at a house in Dube. Sergeant Moses Hlabathi said Sebolai and another man eventually arrived, but went to a different house in the area.
He told the court that he observed the pair for a while before they left. He followed them and arrested Sebolai a few minutes later in the streets.
The defence put it to him that Sebolai would testify that he was heading to the filling station before making his way to the police station to hand himself over. Hlabathi denied this.
