Cape Town - Five prison warders have been stabbed at the Drakenstein prison between Paarl and Franschhoek on Thursday, Western Cape correctional services said.
The five were seriously injured and taken to a hospital in Paarl, spokesman Simphiwe Xako said.
An investigation into the attack was underway.
