Durban - Three men were arrested in three separate incidents at the Golela border post as they allegedly attempted to bring drugs with a street value of more than R800,000 into South Africa, police said on Wednesday.

Police spokesman Major Thulane Zwane said the first arrest at the border post shortly before midday on Tuesday resulted in the seizure of cocaine worth R800 000 from a Mozambican national.

The cocaine was stashed in a secret compartment in his bag.

Later in the afternoon, the driver of a tanker was arrested after he was found in possession of dagga with an estimated street value of R5 500.

And then shortly before 10pm, a Swazi national was arrested as he attempted to bring in dagga with an estimated street value of R8 100.

Zwane said the three men were expected to appear in court soon.
