Papeete, Tahiti - The 2003 Miss Tahiti has been stripped of her place in the record books for posing nude in a magazine spread, the beauty pageant's organiser said on Thursday.
The committee said the unanimous decision on Wednesday to dethrone 22-year-old communications student Heitiare Tribondeau was made to respect the public of French Polynesia and to promote a healthy and positive image of Polynesian women.
Tribondeau, who was fourth runner-up in the Miss France 2004 contest, posed naked in natural settings for a six-page spread in the June edition of Newlook magazine.
In a similar scandal, last year's Miss France, Laetitia Bleger, was stripped of her title for six months for posing in revealing photos for Playboy magazine. - Sapa-AP
