Michelle “Bombshell” McGee gave such a sultry pole dance performance at the opening of Sexpo at the Gallagher Convention Centre on Thursday that close to a hundred people lifted their cellphone cameras to make sure they captured it.

Infamous as the world’s most notorious mistress (after her affair with the husband of actress Sandra Bullock), the bombshell was just one of the jaw-dropping thrills at the event’s opening.

Her partly naked body covered in tattoos, McGee swayed her hips and flicked her hair around a silver pole. A performance worth a performer with such a middle name as McGee’s.

There are performances from other acclaimed exotic dancers, male and female, every 25 minutes throughout each day at the expo.

With 129 stalls showcasing a wide range of sex toys, costumes, body art, DVDs, lingerie, machinery and accessories, visitors were left feeling spoilt for choice.

“It’s all quite amazing,” said Sue Pillay as she watched Juanita Fouche, from Basic Instincts Studio, swirl around a pole.

“The whole tantric thing at Bella Rouge is also quite interesting,” she added.

From free alcohol shots served at makeshift bars, to massages given by professional masseuses and sexual health workshops, the Health, Sexuality and Lifestyle expo is the largest of its kind in the world.

“Have a look here, miss”, “Touch this”, “Feel that”, invitations are thrown at you from all sides as you pass the stalls.

Some objects you can’t help but stare at out of sheer curiosity, such as a long, purple, spiky sex toy that leaves more questions than answers.

Tickets can be bought at Computicket and are priced at R150 for normal access and R250 for VIP access. On Friday, the expo will run from 11am till midnight. On Saturday, it will start at 11am and continue until midnight, but on Sunday, the doors open at 11am and close at 9pm. - The Star
