New York - Apple was expected to unveil a dramatically redesigned iPhone on Tuesday, and the price tag is rumoured to be $1,000 (R12 900), crossing into a new financial frontier that will test how much consumers are willing to pay for a device that's become an indispensable part of modern life.

Since it was introduced 10 years ago, the iPhone has been a great disrupter, heralding an end to everything from paper maps to small talk. 

Here’s a (slightly) tongue-in-cheek look at all the things this ubiquitous gadget has laid to waste.
