A foetus was found in a street dustbin in Southernwood in East London, Eastern Cape police said on Thursday.
“It was found by a passer-by who was throwing something in the dustbin on Wednesday,” Captain Steven Marais said.
He said police were called to the scene at about 11am and a case of concealment of birth was opened for further investigation. “No suspects have been arrested at this stage.”
A post-mortem would be conducted soon to determine the age of the child, Marais said. – Sapa
