Johannesburg - Four members of the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) have been arrested after allegedly trying to solicit a bribe of R5 000 from a man to get rid of a docket.

JMPD spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said the four investigating officers were arrested on Monday for soliciting the bribe to get rid of a docket for crimes the man claims never even existed.

Minnaar said the members of the JMPD Crime Prevention Unit as well as the Hawks arrested the four officers at about 17:30 in Ennerdale.

“The four suspects have been charged for bribery and corruption,” Minnaar said.

The suspects were scheduled to appear in the Protea Magistrates Court soon, Minnaar added.
