Durban - Four people, including three minors, could plead guilty next week to the murder of a 39-year-old prostitute who was decapitated.
The case against the four in the Durban Regional Court was postponed on Friday by Magistrate Anand Maharaj to allow them more time to consult their Legal Aid lawyer.
“I will see you here on the 10th (of September) for consultation and then on the 11th for a possible plea,” he said.
The three minors, who cannot be named, are being detained at the youth facility of Durban's Westville prison, while Falakhe Khumalo is being held in the Chatsworth police station cells.
He was to assist police in the recovery of the alleged murder weapon.
Two other people, Sivonkaliso Mbili, 32, and Vusumuzi Gumede, 30, also arrested for the murder of Desiree Murugan, are being detained at Westville prison.
Their bail hearing was postponed in the same court on Wednesday and they will appear again on September 22.
Municipal workers found Murugan's body at a stadium last month.
The Daily News reported at the time that the 39-year-old had a six-year-old son and worked as a prostitute. She reportedly had a drug habit.
Her head was found in Imfume, on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast.
At the time, police spokesman Colonel Jay Naicker said one of the accused was a traditional healer.
The court was again packed to capacity on Friday with family members and community members from Chatsworth.
