Johannesburg - A fourth man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Mozambican national Emmanuel Sithole in Alexandra, Gauteng police said on Tuesday.
He was arrested in Alexandra on Monday night and would appear in court along with the three others arrested on Sunday night.
Sithole, 35, was murdered at the weekend. Pictures printed in the Sunday Times newspaper showed three men attacking Sithole, one of them was shown aiming a knife at Sithole’s upper body.
The pictures caused an uproar on social media and many called for the police to hunt down the attackers.
The attacks on foreign nationals and looting of shops started two weeks ago in Isipingo, outside of Durban and spread to some areas across the country. The attacks has claimed the lives of seven people so far.
