A Parow organisation is offering young people free life skills training to enhance their employability.
All you need is a smartphone and access to WhatsApp and you can learn in the comfort of your home.
You can also revise the slides and voice notes as many times as you want to deepen your understanding.
The training is being offered by YoungPeople@Work, a youth development agency, who says the weekly classes are open to anyone above the age of 16, nationwide.
Participants will be equipped with skills, ranging from professional job seeking to money management, customer relations, and basic office admin skills.
Shirley de Jongh, the agency's operations manager, says the online programme was initiated during the Covid-19 pandemic in May 2020 when contact classes had to be stopped.
“We have had very positive feedback from those who partook in these online sessions, and it was decided to continue with it in 2021," says Shirley.
Director Frank Julie facilitates the online sessions and adds that this breaks down the boundaries and can literally reach anyone anywhere.
"With unrelenting pressure on cellphone companies to make data prices fall this form of learning will open up many new possibilities,” he says.
“Our previous generation never had such opportunities. Make use of it, please.”
