Pretoria - Nelson Mandela's granddaughter Ndileka Mandela visited the ailing former president at the Medi-Clinic Heart Hospital in Pretoria on Thursday.

Ndileka Mandela entered the hospital at around 10.30am and left shortly before noon.

Mandela has been at the facility for two months, after being admitted on June 8 with a recurring lung infection.

The presidency's latest report, last week, said he was still in a critical but stable condition.

Joe Seoka, of the SA Council of Churches, said on Wednesday Mandela was conscious.

Seoka was with other church leaders who had come to deliver prayers for Mandela and his family at the hospital.

The church leaders did not see Mandela but prayed in a room reserved for visitors.
