Local non-profit organisation, the Destiny By Faith Foundation, is appealing for donations for their youth development feeding scheme project.
The DBF Foundation was founded six years ago, serving the communities of Ottery, Pelican Park, Eagle Park, Lotus River, Parkwood, Lavender Hill, Steenberg, Plumstead, Wynberg, Khayelitsha, Gugulethu, Mitchells Plain and Nelspoort.
Every day, the Ottery-based team cooks and distributes three hot meals, food parcels, bread and milk in these communities, feeding more than 5000 people.
Spokesperson Samantha Petersen says: “The Ottery community alone consists of nearly 2000 elderly, kids, and disabled men and women that we feed on a daily basis. We are doing our utmost to serve the communities with respect, love, dignity and compassion and are looking for companies that will partner with us and help make a difference in a child's life.
“Our aim now is to supply underprivileged kids in the community and various schools with stationery as well as their uniforms. We are looking for companies to partner with us and donate a minimum of R350 each towards this project.”

The group also needs ingredients to make hot food, and Samantha says they are hoping to feed 8000 people every day this year: “We have been using from our homes and pockets to make food parcels, but the need is so big that we have no other alternative but to reach out to businesses and individuals for help.”
