Cape Town - Henri van Breda has allegedly handed himself over to police in connection with the murder of his father, mother and brother at their De Zalze Golf Estate home in Stellenbosch in January 2015.

SABC investigative journalist Jacques Steenkamp tweeted that Van Breda, 21, had walked into Stellenbosch Saps with his attorney on Monday afternoon.

“Henri van Breda was allegedly asked to report to the Stellenbosch SAPS station at 15:30 with his attorney,” Steenkamp tweeted.

A few minutes later, he updated his followers: “Henri van Breda has entered the charge office at the Stellenbosch SAPS with his attorney, Lorinda van Niekerk. More to follow..”

“Henri van Breda has allegedly handed himself over to the Stellenbosch SAPS with regards to murders of his family”.

Henri was the only member of the van Breda family to walk away with minor injuries.

His parents, Martin and Teresa, as well as his brother Rudi, were all killed. His sister Marli suffered a head injury but recovered in hospital.

Police have confirmed the arrest of a 21-year-old male.

Spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut said: "Our investigation into the three murders and an attempted murder which were perpetrated on the De Zalze estate during January 2015 led to the arrest of a 21 year old suspect this afternoon when he handed himself over to the Stellenbosch police at 15:30. The suspect is due to make a court appearance tomorrow (on Tuesday) in Stellenbosch to face three counts of murder and one of attempted murder."
