London - Noise from wind farms has a significant impact on sleep and mental health, a study has found.
It compared a group living within a mile of a wind farm with one further afield.
The researchers found a “clear and significant” difference in the quality of sleep enjoyed by both.
More than a quarter of those living near turbines said they had been diagnosed with depression or anxiety since the wind farm started.
More than a quarter of the same group also said they had been prescribed sleeping pills.
