Cape Town – The trial of a man accused of raping and killing a young Cape Flats woman was postponed for two weeks because the defence was not ready.
The trial of Cameron Wilson, aka Wong, 20, was supposed to start in the Western Cape High Court on Monday.
Wilson allegedly murdered 19-year-old Lekita Moore of Valhalla Park in September.
He faces 15 charges involving several other cases, for which he is being tried simultaneously.
The trial was set to run from on Monday until March 23.
But his lawyer, Mohamed Sibda has asked for more time to prepare for the trial.
Wilson’s charges include six murders, three counts of rape, attempted murder and assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm.
Wilson was brought into court room 12 with his hands and feet cuffed, looking cool and calm.
When proceedings got underway, State prosecutor Carine Teunissen asked for a postponement as the defence has indicated it is not yet ready to proceed.
The trial will now commence on February 27.

The postponement has set Lekita’s dad, Charles Moore, on edge, especially after he recently saw Wilson flaunting his photos on Facebook.
The accused strikes various poses dressed in his orange uniform, sporting sunglasses.
Charles, 53, Lekita’s sister Mercia, 21, and dozens of community members were at court expecting the trial to commence.
“It keeps on being postponed, I’m asking for justice for my daughter, and it feels like it’s never going to happen,” the father said outside court.
“This monster killed my child and now we hear of so many other crimes as well."
“It’s sick and I want him punished for what he took from me,” says Charles.
On his Facebook-page, the baby-faced Wilson is known as Cammy Hermanus, and regularly posts pictures of him and his friends in jail.
Wilson was out on bail for the murder of 16-year-old Stacey Lee Mohale when he allegedly abducted Lekita after they both attended a karaoke in Valhalla Park on September 10.
The teen’s naked and mutilated body was found on a field in Tuna Street the next morning.
Her face was slashed, she had been stabbed 98 times, and her nipples and part of her vagina had been cut away.
Lekita’s mother, Shireen, 49, is being treated in a psychiatric facility for her addiction to tik and her inability to deal with her child’s murder.
