Pretoria - Pupils from Mawela Primary School in Limpopo visited the Mediclinic Heart Hospital in Pretoria on Wednesday to wish former president Nelson Mandela a speedy recovery.

The group of around 50 children sang outside the hospital gates.

“Mandela we love you, there's none like you,” they sang.

Their teacher Bandelani Rambau said the group, comprising grade two to seven pupils, had left Limpopo at 5am.

“I'm with my learners to visit the place where our former president is,” he said.

The pupils posed for pictures at the hospital wall which is filled with hundreds of messages of well-wishes, pictures, cards, and flowers.

“We want to say Mandela must get well as soon as possible. We want to see him walking... God help him to get better,” Rambau said.

Mandela has been in hospital for almost two months.

He was hospitalised on June 8 with a recurring lung infection.
