King William's Town – A 40-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his girlfriend, police said in a statement on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson Captain Jackson Manatha said the 39-year-old woman was murdered in the early hours of Monday morning, December 26, at the Yako informal settlement in Butterworth.
Manatha said police believe the accused beat her to death with a stick. Her identify is being withheld until her family is informed.
Manatha said the suspect will appear in the Butterworth Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, December 28.
