Queenstown - A man has been hacked to death, allegedly by a group of five men in Illinge, Queenstown, police said on Monday.
Lieutenant Pumzile Makaula said the 26-year-old man was part of a group that fought another group on Saturday.
“The victim belonged to the group that lost the fight. It is also alleged that the victim has two cases of murder and a case of rape pending against him,” she said.
The other men were arrested and were expected to appear in court soon.
In a separate incident, a man was arrested for allegedly beating his girlfriend to death on Saturday.
Makaula said the 55-year-old man was living with the 54-year-old woman in Sterkstroom, Queenstown.
The couple apparently had domestic problems.
The man would appear in court soon and face a murder charge. - Sapa
