Port Elizabeth - A man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing and killing a 16-year-old boy, Eastern Cape police said on Tuesday.

The man, 21, was expected to appear in the Kwaaiman Periodical Court on Thursday, said Major Zamukulungisa Jozana.

The boy was stabbed to death at Thwalimofu in Kwaaiman.

He was last seen at a tavern drinking with friends on Friday around 7pm, said Jozana.

“He was later found dead with stab wounds all over his body. A case of murder has been opened.”

Meanwhile, a 22-year-old man was arrested on Monday for allegedly stabbing to death a 49-year-old woman in Mount Pleasant in Elliotdale.

He allegedly stabbed her on Thursday around 9pm while she was at home with her husband.

“The suspect arrived and without uttering any word he stabbed the deceased to death and then fled the scene,” said Jozana.

Police believe the woman was killed over an assault linked to the 22-year-old.

He was expected to appear in the Elliotdale Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Nearby, an 18-year-old man was shot and stabbed to death in Tshutsha in Elliotdale on Wednesday around 8pm, said Jozana.

“It is alleged that a group of men kicked the door open entering the deceased's room where he was sleeping with his girlfriend,” he said.

“They then shot the deceased twice (while) stabbing him to death several times with sharp instruments.”

Police recovered a knife at the scene and have opened a case of murder.

No arrests have been made.

In a separate incident, eight men were arrested for house robbery and possession of illegal firearms on Monday in Coffee Bay in the Eastern Cape.

“Four were linked with three house robberies reported in Coffee Bay (in) March and four were arrested for unlawful possession of (two) unlicensed firearms,” said Jozana.
