Cape Town - A man allegedly set a clothing store alight at a shopping mall in Claremont, Cape Town, on Tuesday morning, Western Cape police said.
Captain Frederick van Wyk said the man entered the store around 10am, threw petrol on the floor and set the store alight.
He said staff managed to escape without harm.
“Security personnel managed to apprehend the suspect before he could flee from the mall.”
The circumstances that led to the fire were not known yet.
Van Wyk said an arson case was opened for investigation.
According to various posts on social media site Twitter, the store in question was Diesel at the Cavendish Square Mall. - Sapa
