Nelspruit - The trial of six men accused of corruption in the building of the Mbombela stadium, Mpumalanga, was postponed by the Nelspruit Magistrate's Court on Friday, the NPA said.
The matter would continue on Monday, National Prosecuting Authority spokesman Medupe Simasiku said.
On Friday they were formally charged with fraud and corruption and with contravening the Municipal Finance Management Act.
A seventh accused, a company called Lefika Emerging Equity (Pty) Ltd, was also formally charged on Friday.
The six are Jacob Dladla, Tebogo Kubeka, Herbert Thelebi, Kaizer Chiefs' manager Bobby Motaung, Lefika CEO Christiaan Grib, and Micheal Romanos. Motaung and Romanos were directors of Lefika.
Dladla was municipal manager when Motaung's company was awarded the contract to build the R1.2 billion stadium for the 2010 Soccer World Cup. They allegedly forged SA Revenue Service documents to get the contract to build the stadium. - Sapa
