Johannesburg - The body of a baby girl was found wrapped in a plastic bag in Centurion, paramedics said on Friday.
The infant's body was reportedly found at the intersection of Pylstert and Gouws in Raslouw in the afternoon by a member of the public who was passing by.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics were called to the scene at approximately 3.33pm by Copwatch Security members.
"Upon arrival, paramedics found the body of a newborn baby girl lying wrapped in a plastic bag. It was evident that the baby had been dead for some time.
"Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the child and she was declared dead on the scene."
Meiring confirmed that the details surrounding this incident were not yet known but local authorities were on the scene to conduct an investigation.
Earlier on, paramedics said that a foetus had been found dumped next to a dustbin in Kempton Park.
The foetus was discovered by cleaner who was emptying refuse bins in Margaret Avenue on Friday morning.
