Cape Town police are remaining tight-lipped on the investigation into the murder of Hard Livings gang boss, Rashied Staggie, amid rumours that progress has been made.
Nearly a month after Staggie, 63, was assassinated while sitting in a parked car outside his London Road home in Salt River, police say no arrests have been made.
Staggie died after being gunned down while sitting in the passenger seat of a silver Toyota Corolla on 13 December.
According to a witness, two gunmen were seen running towards the vehicle parked outside his home, firing several shots through the windscreen.
He was rushed to Groote Schuur Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Crying relatives returned to the crime scene shortly afterwards and told bystanders he had died as the Anti-Gang Unit shut the road and forced neighbours back into their homes.
A week later, his family staged a larney funeral as mense across Cape Town came out in their numbers to mourn his death.
Videos of his hearse and a convoy of luxury cars, gold and white coffin and thousands of Manenberg residents filling the streets to witness the procession went viral on social media.

Last week rumours swirled in cop circles that an arrest had been made by the Anti-Gang Unit tasked with investigating his
murder, but sources told the Daily Voice this was not the case.
Police spokesperson, Colonel André Traut, confirms no arrests have been made and says: “The case is still under investigation and there are no new developments to report at this stage”.
Staggie’s family yesterday declined to comment on the case.
