The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said on Wednesday it was pleased with the decision that Shrien Dewani can be extradited to South Africa.

“We are pleased with the finding made by the judge and encouraged that the South African legal system is internationally recognised but we don't get too excited because that finding is subject to approval by the Home Secretary,” spokesman Mthunzi Mhaga said.

London Judge Howard Riddle said Dewani, 31, could be extradited to South Africa to stand trial for the murder of his wife while on honeymoon.

The Bristol businessman is accused of ordering a hijacking and shooting which left Anni Dewani, 28, dead in a taxi in Cape Town last November. -
