Ventersdorp - The case of five men accused of killing an initiate in Ventersdorp has been postponed to August 02, North West police said on Wednesday.

Thapelo Poleng, 32, Johannes Yona, 21, Michael Montwedi, 18, and two minors appeared in the Ventersdorp Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Lt-Col Lesego Metsi said they would remain in custody at Potchefstroom prison until their next court appearance.

Lesego Goliath, 19, joined the initiation school on June 12. Between the time he joined the school and Monday, June 24, Goliath was brutally assaulted and subsequently died.

The five allegedly burnt his body and buried his remains at the municipal dumping site. Goliath's remains were found on June 24. - Sapa
